Dim Sum - is getting more and more popular in the United States. I am sure you probably have even tried it at some point! It originated in Hong Kong, we called it "Yum Cha"in Cantonese, which means to drink tea (implying that it is served with small snacks). There are many 24 hour Yum Cha places in Taiwan and HK.
In the Chinese culture, we give Hong Bao (Red Bag/ Envelop) during the Chinese New Year holidays, weddings, birthdays, you name it.
Night markets open until 12 am almost daily, and the vendors serve 小吃 XiaoChi, which means "Little Eat", sort of like the concept of Tapas or Dim Sum from Hong Kong - you can get a lot of different variety of foods in one setting. Hao Chi, means delicious! It literally means good eat.
